This November officially starts the experimental work on a new project began. The project, called “Use of phytoesterol for the obtaining of new APIs” (RTC.2014-1439-1), is funded by the Spanish Science and Innovation Ministry within the call RETOS 2014, wherein participating Gadea Crystalpharma and CBMSO (Centro de Biología Molecular Severo Ochoa) from the UAM CSIC. The partners will focus in the use of enzymes from thermophylic bacteria, for the development of synthetic processes to obtain new APIs (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) derivated from naturally occurring phytosterols.
The Colombian government has awarded a grant to the Sanitation and Environmental Biotechnology Unit (USBA, Department of Biology), of the Universidad Pontificia Javeriana, in cooperation with Biochemize S.L., for the initiation of a project of screening and optimization of new esterases and lipases obtained from native microbial strains, in order to develop complex esterifications. Biochemize SL aims to expand the current portfolio of high peformanced lipases and esterases.
